Married to Patricia Fresener in 1967.  Two children and three grandchildren.

 
  Business:  

In the industry since 1970 with wife, Pat. Started a small business that grew to automatic equipment. Sold business in 1978 and wrote “the book” How To Print T-Shirts For Fun and Profit.

In 1979 Scott and Pat founded The U.S. Screen Printing Institute. Have trained over 14,000 students since that time.

 
  Hobbies:  

Work. Scott and Pat showed dogs for a number of years and had seven Labrador Retrievers. Scott is the past president of the Scottsdale Dog Fanciers (1994 – 1996) – an all breed dog club that put on large regional dog shows with over 1,500 entries.

Scott is an accomplished Bass Guitar and Keyboard player and along with his son, Mike Fresener, played in their company band. He also played at large industry functions with his own band and a group of industry veterans, calling themselves the All Industry Band.

In a “past life” Scott had one of the hottest bands in the Phoenix area in the late 60’s and opened for acts such as Them, Lovin’ Spoonful, Sonny & Cher, and others.

  Software:  

FastFilms (1999) automated color separation program.  Photoshop plugin that automates the complex task of color separating images for light and dark T-Shirts. Software is used globally by over 10,000 companies. In six languages. Used by people who print for Disney, Nascar, Licensed products and more. When you buy a printed shirt at WalMart, Airport gift shops, at NASCAR races, and at Disneyland, chances are the color separations and recommended printing techniques were from FastFilms.

T-Seps (2009) automated color separation program. The next generation of FastFilms.

FastRIP  (2000) developed to print accurate film positives for screen printing using an inexpensive inkjet printer.  Used around the world. Over 9,000 copies sold. FastRIP is now called T-RIP.

  Magazines:  

Scott has written over 350 articles for trade magazines. At any given time he has written for and is writing for Impressions Magazine (USA), Images Magazine (UK), SGIA Journal, Stitch and Print (Europe), Image Magazine (Australia), ScreenMarknadan Magazine (Denmark) and Wearables (USA). Dozens of his articles have been reprinted with permission in a wide variety of industry trade magazines worldwide.

 
  Training:  

Scott taught over 14,000 students at the U.S. Screen Printing Institute (closed in 2009). He has also conducted hundreds of training sessions in factories around the world. Scott taught dozens of hands-on workshops at SGIA’s Screen Printing Technical Foundation in Fairfax, VA and at large industry tradeshows.

He currently is doing hands-on training with his son, Mike Fresener, at the Fresener’s Printers Boot Camps in Bowling Green, KY.

 
  Seminars:  

Scott is a popular seminar speaker at trade shows around the world. He has conducted well over 500 seminars at shows such as the Imprinted Sportswear Shows (a speaker since 1979!), Printwear, FESPA Berlin, FESPA Munich, and SGIA (for over 20 years) and in other countries including shows in Japan, Brazil, Buenos Aries, Canada, Mexico City, Colombia, Guatemala, England, Amsterdam, and Singapore.

 
  Color Seps:  

Scott does over 1,000 color separations per year at his 24HourSeps.com website. Even though he sells T-Seps software, his color separation clients are often his software owners who send Scott high-end critical images. A majority of his clients are companies who simply can’t handle the workload of doing seps in-house. He has some customers who have had him do thousands of color separations. 

 
  Membership:  

In 1995, Scott was made a member of the prestigious SGIA Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technology, of which was the Chairman for the years 2002 – 2004.

He has served on the SGIA Textile Graphic Committee, and is a past Chairman of the SGIA Membership Committee.

He was on the Board of Directors of SGIA for 2003 – 2008.

 
  Consulting:  

Scott is a popular industry consultant and over the years has consulted large and small firms and major corporations in this country and abroad on garment screen printing and computer graphics. His clients include companies such as Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida and companies in Holland, England, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Colombia, Japan, Singapore, Guatemala, Mexico, Brazil, Norway, Canada, Argentina, Spain and Australia.

In 1998, Scott spent six weeks on the Island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean working with large screen printing factories who export to Europe and the US.

 
  Judging:  

Scott has been an industry expert judge for dozens of garment decorating competitions including the Terrific T-Shirt Contest sponsored by Screen Play Magazine (now defunct), The Impressions Awards sponsored by Impressions Magazine, and the prestigious Golden Image Awards sponsored by the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association.

As part of his duties in the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technology, he helps judge the “Best in Show” for the Annual SGIA Golden Image competition. In 1993 he was invited to be the “Textile Judge” for the first annual Asia-Pacific Screen Printing competition and trade show in Singapore.

 
 

Lifetime

Contributions:

 

A 1989 Impressions Magazine reader’s poll voted the Freseners “the most influential couple of the last ten years” and the Institute and books were voted the “best technical material and training in the industry” by the Impressions Magazine Quest for the Best competition.

In 2000, Scott was quoted extensively in a Wall Street Journal cover page story about the T-Shirt industry and in early 2001 was featured in the documentary film The History of the T-Shirt.

Scott and his son, Michael, built and maintained the industry’s popular ScreenPrinters.net internet web site which boasted over 4,000,000 visits since going on-line in 1995.

In 2002, Scott was featured by Impressions Magazine as one of the Top 25 Leading Industry Innovators.

 
  Awards:  

Scott and his companies have received well over 50 Service to the Industry and Industry Recognition awards since 1979.

In 1989 and 1992, Scott and the Institute received the coveted Magnus Award from the Screen Printing Association International (now called the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association) for outstanding contributions to the industry.

In 1996, Scott was awarded SGIA’s prestigious Parmele Award, which is the highest honor you can receive in this industry. This award is presented to only one recipient per year for outstanding lifetime contributions to the industry.

 
  Innovation:  

Scott was the developer of the Fast T-Jet inkjet-to-garment printer. He is not the inventor of this technology but is the one who brought “direct-to-garment” to the market first. Scott is considered by many to be the “Henry Ford” of this technology. Other than Kornit Digital who developed a solvent based white ink in 2006, Scott was the driving force in white ink development in 2006 and was the first to introduce white ink for smaller desktop digital direct-to-garment printers.

In 2007 Scott’s company (making T-Jet printers) was Inc. Magazine’s 537th fastest growing company and the 12th fastest growing manufacturer.

 
  Current:   Scott is currently Managing Director of T-Biz Network International, LLC and T-Shirt Printing Master Classes and is a partner in the Printers Boot Camp.
